The work on this site was created by using natural fibers and is referred to as traditional rug hooking. Using a small hand held hook, wool fabric and yarn is pulled through linen on which images have been drawn. The goal as a fiber artist is to “paint” with wool to create art.
Davey is a native Vermonter who has been hooking rugs for 30 years. It was only in the past 10 years that she began to focus on landscapes and in particular the landscape of Vermont. She was drawn to the mountains, farmlands and buildings that were familiar to her. She developed a style of her own that was influenced by impressionistic art.
Davey teaches landscape classes to other hookers and is selling her art.
